The Hot 50 Bordeaux 2020 selection is here
We are delighted to announce that the Hot 50 Bordeaux 2020 selection is now on our website and includes wines available from a wide selection of UK retailers, all priced between £6 and £25.
To help you decide when faced with choosing a wine for any occasion, the Hot 50 selection highlights the best Bordeaux wines available to buy in the UK between £6-£25, with a focus on exceptional quality, diversity and affordability. From dry and aromatic white wines, fruity rosés, sparkling Crémants, sweet wines and soft, fruit-forward modern reds there really is something for everyone!
The list has been divided into four categories, with only the very best making the cut. These include:
- Ethical Wines – organic, biodynamic and sustainably crafted wines
- Fresh & Crisp – white wine & Crémant de Bordeaux
- Smooth & Fruity – accessible red wine, rosé and Crémant de Bordeaux rosé
- Rich & Complex – full-bodied, complex and powerful red, white and sweet wines
The Hot 50 Bordeaux Selection was curated earlier this year by a panel of experts including wine buyers, sommeliers, educators and journalists, led by Richard Bampfield MW. Together, they sniffed, swirled and spat their way through a line-up of over 240 wines in their bid to find the top 50 Bordeaux wines available in the UK that excited them most.
“The quality and breadth of styles on show during the tasting process surpassed all expectations,” says Richard. “It proved a real challenge to select just 50, such was the high overall standard of the wines submitted. I am delighted with the final selection: the wines capture the innovation and modernity of Bordeaux today, with a respectful nod to Bordeaux’s finer traditions. It just goes to show you don’t have to break the bank to find some real gems in Bordeaux.”
