You can follow many of Bordeaux winemakers on their own Instagram channels for wonderful scenes from the vineyards and insights into the winemaking world. We love Sally Evans from Fronsac-based Chateau George 7. At over 55, after a very eventful professional life, Sally decided to change her life and become a winegrower. Being a true woman of action, she started training, learning to taste and to make wine. It was during this period that she visited vineyards in Bordeaux. And it was love at first sight. Sally didn’t know anyone in the area but decided to take the plunge. She bought vines in Fronsac and created a new chateau – a small nugget of 2 ha producing 10,000 bottles of a great 100% Merlot wine.

Another British-owned chateau that makes affordable Bordeaux wines and sells direct to the UK. The family grows Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon for dry white and sparkling wines, along with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc for deep reds and pale rosé wines. Their account will also appeal to dog-lovers as their chateau dogs Margaux and Paviet are often featured among the vines.

Elodie was born and bred in the Bordeaux region, just minutes from the magnificent vineyards of Saint-Émilion. After living in the US and Central America for over a decade and working in the gourmet food business, Elodie returned to Bordeaux and shares her passion for Bordeaux through wine tours across the area.

Sophia is a certified wine writer, teacher, taster and adventurer who loves demystifying wine in a simple and inspiring way. Every Wednesday she runs live Instagram sessions titled “Wednesday Wine Women” which are a great opportunity to discover more about passionate females from the wine world.
