2019 – A well-balanced vintage

The 2019 vintage was the result of fine weather in the Bordeaux region. Once again, however, Bordeaux winegrowers still had to contend with unpredictable conditions and step up their efforts at each stage of the growing season. But all in all, the weather was relatively favourable compared to the past three years.

RED WINES

The harvest began mid-September in the earliest ripening areas with the Merlot grapes, then spread to all the vineyards from 23 to 27 September, including Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. 2019 is a high-quality vintage with promising potential. Still young, these red wines are smooth, well-balanced and low in alcohol. Their fine structure guarantees good ageing potential. They also boast a magnificent deep red colour.

DRY WHITE WINES

This 2019 vintage is outstanding, with excellent balance, freshness and acidity. The dry white wine and white Crémant harvest began late August in the earliest ripening areas with Sauvignon Blanc, becoming widespread during the first week of September.

SWEET WHITE WINES

Botrytis cinerea (noble rot which develops thanks to humidity, producing sweet white wines) was slow to set in. From the second week of October, winegrowers harvested lovely grapes which are pure and elegant with wonderful freshness. Picking was carried out quickly and exclusively by hand, requiring a large workforce in a short amount of time

ROSÉ WINES

The ROSÉS are crystal-clear, fine and fruity with a lovely long aftertaste. The CLAIRETS are a deep raspberry colour and also fresh and fruity.
