Behind the Scenes: The Everyday Bordeaux Selection 2015

Now in its 11th year, the Everyday Bordeaux Selection was to set up to create a range of affordable Bordeaux wines for every occasion. With a large diversity of colours and tasting profiles, the choice ranges from full-bodied Bordeaux reds and crisp & fruity whites, to easy-drinking wines, to be shared informally with friends. This year’s jury was made up of experienced and independent members of the Association of Wine Educators.

Vivienne Franks is a CIVB International Bordeaux Wine Educator, WSET Certified Educator and an Approved Programme Provider for the Wine and Spirit Education Trust. She develops and teaches courses for consumers and runs tastings for The Wine Education Service and for Leith’s School of Food and Wine.

Laura Clay is an international accredited Bordeaux tutor and is currently the Chairman of the Association of Wine Educators, as well as Chairman of the Wine and Spirit Association.

Richard Bampfield is a Master of Wine, (one of only 300 worldwide), ex-Chairman of the Association of Wine Educators and was named European Champagne Ambassador 2009. He is also a Panel Chairman at the International Wine Challenge (IWC) where Laura is a senior judge.

Sandy Leckie runs a wine school, The Wine Education Service, When he’s not teaching, he’s running tastings for private clients and wine clubs in the world’s best wine regions. 

With over 20 years in the wine industry, Paul Quinn is an experienced business development manager, buyer and wine educator. He alsowrites a wine column for the North West Evening Mail.

Anthony Stockbridge has spent many years in the drinks industry as a licensee, restaurateur and general manager of a top-flight racecourse, as well as holding senior positions at Mars, Courage and Brent Walker. Over the years he has won many awards in the industry and is also a Bordeaux accredited tutor.

Keith Grainger is an author and regular broadcaster for BBC Radio Stations. His book

‘Wine Quality Tasting and Selection’ won the Gourmand Award for the best Wine Education Book in the World, and ‘Wine Production: Vine to Bottle (co-author Hazel Tattersall) has become recommended reading for many wine courses.

Together they tasted a staggering 160 different red, dry white, rosé and sweet white Bordeaux wines!
