This year we had the privilege to attend the Bordeaux Fete le Vin, in the heart of the city of Bordeaux. Pavilions featuring 80 appellations from Bordeaux and the Aquitaine region, as well as the great brands of Bordeaux wine, form a “wine road” stretching over 2 km along the banks of the Garonne.
We spent a great deal of time with the CIVB Bordeaux Wine Council Wine School and their tasting workshops, which included matching food & wine and wine cocktails. Throughout the days we got the chance to visit the Entre Deux Mers and Saint Emilion appellations, boat rides in Bassin d’Arcachon and right by the Bordeaux quays to view the nightly sound and light show. Amazing!
We brought along a great group of US writers, focused on wine and travel. It was their first time to Bordeaux – Howard, Pam, and Janelle seemed to have an awesome trip (minus luggage issues!).
The last day at the festival included an surprising concert with Dianne Reeves, American jazz singer with the Bordeaux Aquitaine National Orchestra. Divine!
Thank you to the ever hard working people of Bordeaux, especially the CIVB for the scheduled activities and the education! We had a blast, got some really great photos and met so many cool winos! Until next time, cheers! [Flickr Album]
