Francs Côtes de Bordeaux

Although this appellation is mostly known for its red wines, it also produces a limited quantity of fruity and rich white wines.

Fine woody aromas and beautiful elegance

Produce mostly from Semillon blended with Muscadelle and Sauvignon, the dry white wines of this appellation are vinified in barrels. In order for them to express their full potential and subtleties, they must be aged one to two years. Their aromatic register can thereby evolve into delicious honey, pineapple and citrus fruit, maintained by delicate, woody aromas. At first very lively on the palate, they become voloptuous and elegant.

Contrasted seasons

About 50 km north-east of Bordeaux, this appellation spreads along some of the highest hillsides along the Gironde River. As a result of its geographical location, it is subject to more contrasted seasonal conditions and to less rain than in the rest of the Gironde. Hail storms are also very rare in this appellation, notably because it is protected by the two rivers that surround it, the Dordogne and the l'Isle.

The hillsides mostly face eastward, which allows the vineyard to be exposed to the sun as of the early morning. The soil is mostly composed of clay or clay-limestone above layers of marl, limestone and clay. Most vineyards are small (5 to 6 ha on average). The vinegrowers can therefore afford to care for each individual vine.

Average yearly production: 123 hL

Declared surface: 6 ha
