A communal appellation since 1957, Listrac-Medoc offers fleshy and aromatic wines which are perfect examples of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blends.
Fleshy and balanced
This appellation produces wines having a dense and deep robe, with complex aromas of red and black berries, liquorice, soft spices or leather. On the palate, these wines are frank, balanced, structured, fleshy and aromatically rich. These powerful wines have a significant ageing potential.
Listrac-Médoc wines are blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, which imparts structure, and Merlot, which imparts aromatic strength and fruitiness. Cabernet Franc is added in small proportions to add fruitiness and spicy aromas.
Specific microclimate
The refreshing proximity of the vast Landes forest, which protects this appellation from prevailing winds, enables grapes to ripen slowly and regularly. The vines spread over three gravely terraces lying over a limestone base. This terroir offers particularly impressive natural drainage, where roots can penetrate deeply to find nutrients.
Average yearly production: 30 243 hLDeclared surface (2009): 597 ha
