Going out in Bordeaux
Bordeaux has both a northern and southern character. It is dynamic, entrepreneurial and open to the world but it also loves to enjoy life. Its people like to welcome guests and live late into the night, taking in the variety of evening activities.
Bordeaux celebrates wine
Every other year, Bordeaux celebrates wine, the nectar that made, and continues to make, the city famous. This major event allows visitors with a tasting pass, to speak to countless producers. At nightfall, there are concerts and all sorts of events to celebrate the relationship between the people of Bordeaux and their city, river and of course, their wine.
Bordeaux's terraces
Bordeaux's terraces are open late into the night much to the enjoyment of night owls and the cities' students. The Place de la Victoire is where most of them can be found enjoying tapas, music and a wonderful energy that doesn't let up until very late, especially on weekends.
In the ancient quartier Saint Pierre
In the ancient quartier Saint Pierre, the atmosphere is a little more sensual, with a wonderful mixture of bars and reasonably priced bistros. The surroundings encourage intimacy, with its small alleys lined with 18th century facades decorated with the superb mascarons (carved stone portraits). People here are a little less boisterous, but just as trendy.
Adventures on the Quai de Paludate
The more adventurous will head to the Quai de Paludate, father south along the river. Known for its slaughterhouses and restaurants that serve sumptuous meat, this is where pubs, bars and nightclubs that attract those who live to go out at night, all night can be found.
